The First Presbyterian Church at 8th and Scott Streets in Little Rock is home to the oldest continuously serving congregation of this denomination West of the Mississippi River. Although the congregation has not been at this location since it’s conception it has been very close since 1828.

The building located at 8th and Scott was built in 1921. Since then, the church has seen it’s share of bitterness and hard times. In 1924, a young girl by the name of Floella McDonald sought refuge from a storm by entering the great sanctuary. That April afternoon was her last time to see the outside of the church. She never left because she was murdered deep in the basement below the sanctuary.

In 1958, a great fire gutted the sanctuary causing thousands of dollars in damage. The church was rebuilt to its former splendor but scars can be seen on the brickwork. The stains were left there as a reminder of that terrible day. The scars of 1924 are just as deep but cannot be seen by the naked eye. Only those with special talents may see the lasting effects of such unimaginable horror.

This church is such a wonderful and peaceful place to visit. The staff hear and see things that cannot be explained away but they accept them as they would any of Gods creatures needing a place to stay.

The orb at the top center is in motion. An orb in motion is usually indicative of a spirit orb.

This photo is complicated.
Several people have looked at this one and no definitive answer can be given about the bright spot in the middle.
Some say it is no more than a reflection of the camera flash. Others, me included, say it is a bright orb in motion. I say this because all other photos with a flash reflection are round. This one has a tail. Also, if it is a flash reflection from the window behind the chairs then the rays should be blocked by the chair legs but they are not. They radiate as if in front of the legs.
The one thing that all agree on is the face in the glass to the right of the bright spot.

Taken in the family room not too many feet from where the girl was murdered. In this area, the room temperature ranged from 81 degrees to 61 degrees. An orb can be seen in the center of the picture.

This picture was taken in the basement. Notice the red orb in motion to the right. An orb in motion usually indicates that this orb could be a spirit. The color means nothing. Photo by MG.

Here is another orb in motion taken in the basement. See it toward the top and in the center moving horizontally?
